Regularities in Null Instantiation
Null instantiation refers to sentences where an argument is left out, but is semantically still implied. E.g., in "John ate," there's an implicit food argument, even if it's not mentioned.
Ruppenhofer argues that null instantiation isn't a single phenomenon, but that there are several interesting distinctions between different cases of it.
